René Rechtman

Co-founder and CEO, Moonbug Entertainment

René Rechtman is a recognised media entertainment executive, entrepreneur and business investor. In June 2018 Rechtman co-founded Moonbug Entertainment and currently serves as its CEO. Under Rechtman’s leadership, Moonbug has grown to become an award-winning global entertainment company behind some of the most popular children’s titles including CoComelon, Blippi, Little Angel and Morphle.

Prior to setting up Moonbug, Rechtman was Head of Non-Linear Media at The Walt Disney Company. His journey with Disney commenced through the acquisition of Maker Studios in 2014, where he served as President of International. In this role, he focused on product growth and the rapid expansion of the international business across EMEA, Asia, and Latin America.

From 2008 to 2013, René served as CEO of AOL BeOn, the global branded content division of AOL Networks, and SVP of AOL International. His entry into AOL came with the acquisition of GoViral in 2011, a leading branded content distribution platform where he held the position of CEO. Prior to his AOL days, Rechtman spent eight years at TradeDoubler, where he transformed the business into a leading international digital marketing company, culminating in a successful IPO in 2005. Beyond his executive roles, he serves as an angel investor in media, gaming, sports, and technology businesses, occupying several board positions. Notably, he is a board member of Candle Media, the entity that acquired Moonbug Entertainment in December 2021. Rechtman’s impact extends beyond the boardroom, as evidenced by his inclusion in the Wired Europe’s Top 100 most influential list on two occasions.
