Takashi Kodama

Country Director, Japan, Amazon Prime Video

In his role as Country Director, Takashi Kodama is dedicated to making Prime Video the most loved video streaming service in Japan. His key responsibilities include improving customer experience by optimizing Prime Video’s content selection and website/app, building strong relationships with partners (i.e. content suppliers, creators, talents, etc.), and developing Prime Video as the go-to entertainment hub for customers through its SVOD, Channels and TVOD services. Takashi’s practical role involves crafting and implementing the strategies for long-term business development, content programming and marketing, accelerating Prime Video’s adoption among customers in Japan by satisfying the country’s unique and diverse entertainment demands, and enriching the overall Prime membership experience.

Having joined Prime Video in October 2017 as Head of Content and then becoming the Country Manager in July 2021, Takashi has been playing an instrumental role in driving the streaming service’s growth in Japan and establishing the locale as one of Prime Video’s largest international territories worldwide. Prior to joining Amazon, he spent 15 years at Walt Disney Japan, where he last served as the Vice President of Strategy for the Asia region. He’s also served as the President, Broadcast Satellite Disney Co., Ltd, and also had stints at Boston Consulting Group, Fuji Television Network, Inc., among others. Takashi holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Keio University and an MBA from New York University.
