Founder & Group CEO
Banijay Asia, Endemol Shine India, Creasia Studio
For nearly three decades, Deepak Dhar has been behind some of the biggest shifts in Indian entertainment. The common thread across his career is simple: he has an uncanny ability to spot the future of popular culture before it becomes obvious to everyone else.
When Indian television was dominated by daily soaps, he helped bring stand-up comedy into mainstream entertainment with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. When adventure reality was still an unfamiliar concept, he introduced Fear Factor to India, creating what would become the enduring franchise Khatron Ke Khiladi. And when the idea of locking strangers inside a house and filming them 24 hours a day seemed impossible for Indian audiences, he adapted the global phenomenon Big Brother into Bigg Boss, now one of the most influential and successful entertainment properties in the country.
Deepak began his career in 1996, with early stints at MTV and Star TV before joining Endemol Shine India in 2006. Within three years, he rose to become Managing Director and CEO, leading the company through a period of unprecedented growth and establishing it as one of India's most successful content studios.
In 2018, he partnered with global content powerhouse Banijay to launch Banijay Asia. Under his leadership, the company rapidly expanded into one of the region's most prolific and respected content producers. In 2023, Banijay acquired Endemol Shine India, bringing together two companies that had defined much of his professional journey. A year later, he launched CreAsia to build content for the fast-growing Southeast Asian market.
Today, Deepak leads multiple businesses across Asia, overseeing a diverse slate that spans television, streaming, films, branded entertainment and live experiences. Across these ventures, one philosophy remains constant: audiences come first.
His body of work includes some of India's most recognisable and celebrated titles, including Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi, MasterChef India, The Kapil Sharma Show, The Night Manager, Undekhi, Hostages, Trial By Fire and The Trial. Together, these shows have entertained hundreds of millions of viewers and helped shape the evolution of modern Indian entertainment.
