With over 15 years of experience in the Philippine entertainment industry, Lino S. Cayetano is a filmmaker and producer whose work bridges the worlds of storytelling and public service. A film graduate of the University of the Philippines who pursued advanced studies in New York and later taught at the UP Film Institute, Cayetano began his career directing for the country’s leading broadcast networks, ABS-CBN and GMA. During this time, he contributed to several influential projects, notably conceptualizing and directing the talent search “StarStruck,” which introduced a reality-based format to Philippine television. He also helmed the coming-of-age series “Growing Up,” a show recognized for helping launch the careers of some of today’s most prominent young actors, and directed episodes for the long-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK).
His career took a significant turn into leadership and governance, serving as a member of the Philippine Congress from 2013 to 2016 and later as the Mayor of Taguig during the COVID-19 pandemic. Navigating a major city through a global crisis provided him with a unique perspective on the human condition and societal structures—insights he brought back to the creative industry in 2017 when he co-founded Rein Entertainment. As President of Rein, he leads the company’s creative direction and strategy, developing globally competitive Filipino content. Under his leadership, Rein has produced titles such as the acclaimed socio-political series “Bagman,” the award-winning feature “A Silent Night,” and “Salvageland,” which he directed and is currently streaming on Netflix—positioning the company as an emerging voice in premium Filipino storytelling for the global market.
