Rahul Purini is President of Crunchyroll, having assumed the role in May 2022 after serving as the company’s Chief Operating Officer for several years. He leads the global strategic direction of the world’s leading anime experience for fans. During his time leading the organization, he has led Crunchyroll to surpassing 17 million global paid subscribers. His efforts in the theatrical space have led to releasing the #1 anime ever in North American box office, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle; winning its first global rights for a theatrical distribution with Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO; and distribution for the award-winning director Makoto Shinkai’s film Suzume, which garnered a Golden Globe nomination.


He also led the launch of anime dubs in five new languages (Italian, Castilian Spanish, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu). As a part of Crunchyroll's music endeavors, he brought anime-related music to the streaming platform. He has also found great success in online commerce, closing the acquisition of eCommerce anime retailer Right Stuf in August 2022 and distribution deals for Crunchyroll with numerous platform partners in the US. Finally, he headed up the effort to bring the Crunchyroll Anime Awards ceremony to Tokyo, the home of anime. In 2024, Purini was named to the Variety 500 Power List and ranked #4 on Cartoon Brew’s US Animation Power The accolades continued in 2025, with recognition on the Variety 120 Power List, Los Angeles Business Journal’s LA500 and Gold House’s A100 list. That same year, under his leadership, Crunchyroll was named one of Fast Company’s ‘Most Innovative Companies.’
