ICC
Sanjog Gupta is the current Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the global governing body for cricket. He took charge on July 7, 2025, becoming the seventh CEO in ICC’s history. A visionary leader in the world of sports and media, Sanjog brings over two decades of experience across broadcasting, digital innovation, sports strategy, and content creation. His appointment marks a pivotal moment for cricket as it embarks on a new era of global expansion, deeper fan engagement, and Olympic inclusion.
Before joining the ICC, Sanjog served as the CEO of JioStar Sports, where he oversaw the integration of Viacom18 and Disney Star into one of the most powerful sports media conglomerates in the world. Under his leadership, JioStar Sports drove record-breaking growth across linear TV and digital platforms, leading to transformative changes in how cricket was presented, consumed, and celebrated. Having started his career in broadcasting, Mr. Gupta joined Star India (now JioStar) in 2010 and steadily rose through the ranks. He held key leadership roles in content, programming, and strategy, ultimately taking charge as Head of Sports in 2020. In that role, he transformed the viewing experience of marquee properties like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and ICC global tournaments, spearheading innovations such as multi-language broadcasts, fan-first storytelling, and technology- led content formats.
Notably, Sanjog Gupta played a critical role in expanding the footprint of women’s sports, driving inclusive and women-centric programming that contributed to the rising popularity of women's cricket in India. His leadership was instrumental in positioning India as the nerve centre of sports broadcasting, and he earned industry-wide recognition for combining business acumen with creative vision. He has consistently championed innovation, regional accessibility, and grassroots storytelling in sports media. As ICC CEO, Sanjog Gupta is tasked with shaping cricket’s global future, including its growth in emerging markets, further strengthening of the sport’s three formats, and realising the vision of cricket’s successful debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. He is also focused on enhancing fan engagement, developing sustainable commercial models, and collaborating closely with ICC Member Boards to future-proof the sport.
