Vice President, Asia Pacific, Prime Video

Gaurav Gandhi is the Vice President, Asia Pacific for Amazon’s video streaming service, Prime Video. In this role, Gaurav drives Prime Video’s business holistically in the region across SVOD, TVOD (Prime Video Store) and Prime Video Channels. Gaurav’s remit spans across the entire APAC region, which includes some of the biggest international locales for Prime Video like Japan and India, as well as countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, where Prime Video expanded its footprint more recently. Gaurav is focused on making Prime Video the most-preferred entertainment hub for customers in the region. In addition to building and growing Prime Video in APAC, Gaurav is very passionate about harnessing the unique storytelling potential of this diverse, multi-lingual and multi-cultural region, and taking these stories to global audiences. 

Gaurav joined Amazon in 2018 and served as the Country Head for Prime Video in India before taking his role as the head of Prime Video APAC. Under his leadership, the streaming service grew rapidly to become India’s most preferred entertainment destination. Gaurav has helped build Prime Video into an entertainment powerhouse in India by doubling down on tentpole original content, pioneering industry firsts like direct-to-service world premieres of Indian movies across languages, as well as co-productions and creation of original films. He led the expansion of the content portfolio to program in 10 languages, taking the service deep into the country with audiences across 99% of India’s pin codes. He launched the worldwide first initiative – Prime Video Mobile Edition in India, brought live sports to the service, and created a video entertainment marketplace with Prime Video Channels and launched a Movie Rentals (TVOD) service. 

Gaurav is a seasoned industry leader with 25 years of experience across consumer tech, advertising, media and entertainment. Prior to Amazon, Gaurav has worked in companies such as Viacom18, NDTV Imagine, STAR India and Turner International in various leadership roles. He moved into the video streaming space in 2015, and set up, launched and ran Viacom 18’s streaming service VOOT.
